Today, Governor Newsom announced plans to add the COVID-19 vaccine to the list of vaccinations required for all California students, public and private, to attend school in-person after the vaccine receives full approval from the Food and Drug Administration. Based on current information, the requirement is expected to apply to grades 7-12 starting on July 1, 2022. The State Superintendent of Public Instruction stated today that a vaccine mandate for kindergarten through sixth grades would follow at a later date. The Governor also announced that COVID-19 vaccines will be mandated for school employees on the same schedule as public and private school students in grades 7-12.
