Welcome to Woodland Elementary School!

the front gate of Woodland Elementary

Woodland's vision is to provide students with a safe and nurturing school environment that enables all students to learn to their maximum potential.

Within the boundaries of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, nestled on the corner of Garden and Woodland lanes, lies a small school serving kindergarten through first grade students. Woodland Elementary School is located on the east side of Costa Mesa in Orange County, approximately five miles from the Pacific Ocean. Woodland serves nearly 400 students with diverse ethnicities blended together to form one learning community.  It is within this rich environment that dedicated teachers, involved parents, and members of the community work together to provide a challenging, well-balanced academic program that meets the needs of all Woodland students.

Woodland's Character Education Program: Pyramid of Success

Woodland's character education program is based on Coach John Wooden's book, Inch and Miles - The Journey to Success.

Success isn't having trophies or toys.
It isn't a medal or friends of your choice.
What is Success? That's easy to see.
It's trying to be the best that you can be!
Don't worry what others may have or might say.
When trying your best,
Success comes your way.
